Tenor soloist -  Handel's Messiah, April 2023

Zahid Siddiqui, tenor, looks forward to joining Royal Academy Opera from September 2023. He is a graduate of the Royal College of Music where he studied with Russell Smythe. Zahid looks forward to returning to Garsington Opera in 2023, where he will sing the Officer and cover Scaramuccio in Ariadne auf Naxos. He will also be singing the role of Lucano in Monteverdi’s L’incoronzione di Poppea with English Touring Opera. Zahid has recently performed with London Mozart Players, Concerto Copenhagen, Oxford Lieder, and the Edvard Grieg Kor. In 2022, he was an Alvarez Young Artist with Garsington Opera, and appeared as a soloist with City of London Sinfonia. He also performed with the Royal Opera House’s Jette Parker Young Artists in Lost and Found. In 2021, Zahid made his debut as a soloist with the Royal Danish Opera in their new production Light - Bach Dances, conducted by Lars Ulrik Mortensen with Concerto Copenhagen. Zahid was a Nevill Holt Opera Young Artist for their 2021 season, where he covered the role of Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni and performed Giuseppe in La Traviata. He also sang in the chorus at Opéra de Lyon. Concert performances have included Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s St John Passion, Finzi’s Dies Natalis, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Mozart’s Requiem, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle, and Dvorak’s Stabat Mater. During his undergraduate studies at the University of Manchester, Zahid performed the role of Rinaldo in the world stage premier of Judith Weir’s Armida.
