Oliver was awarded a choral scholarship to attend the Guildhall School of Music and is nearing the end of his course. He will be starting the Opera Course at the same Conservatoire in September. He has been studying with John Llewellyn Evans, Oliver is from Shropshire where he attended Ellesmere College, during which time he was a finalist at the International Eisteddfod at Llangollen. He has also given a number of recitals in his home county and also performances in Rome and Sorrento. He took the lead male role in Poppyfields, a musical based on the First World War, and premiered a group of Wilfred Owen songs put to music by Dr Derry Bertenshaw, who has also written three new pieces for him.

 

While at Guildhall, he has performed in the summer opera ‘Der Zar lässt sich photographieren’ by Kurt Weill, and a triple bill comprising Massenet's Le Portrait de Manon, Smyth’s Fête Galante and Rota’s I due Timidi. Most recent engagements include the title role in the Guildhall production of Handel’s Giulio Cesare and a performance of the Messiah with the Wyatt Sinfonia in the East End of London.
