Lydia is a soprano and educator who graduated with a First Class BMus Hons degree in Vocal and Opera studies from the Royal Northern College of Music, completed the Genesis Sixteen and VOCES8 Scholars programmes in 2022, and now delivers projects for young people in the UK and France as one of VOCES8’s Education Leaders. She is particularly interested in engaging new audiences, exploring genres and understanding music in its cultural contexts. Lydia is a founding member of The Apex Singers whose début album of world folk music won two CARAs (Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards) and was Scala Radio’s 'Album of the Week'. She has regularly sung with Kantos since 2017 (with whom she recorded ClassicFM favourite ‘Requiem for My Mother’ by Rebecca Dale), recently held a Choral Scholarship with SMITF's HeartEdge Manchester, and enjoys using her French and Norwegian to offer language coaching.
